SUMMARY
Supervises a group of employees engaged in performing a variety of maintenance and engineering assignments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Oversees the planning and design of products, tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment and mechanical industrial processes.
Supervises the production, installation, operations, maintenance, and repair of mechanically functioning equipment, including centralized heat, gas, water, steam systems, as well as electrical systems.
Works closely with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of robotics and PLC controls to increase production quality, efficiency or volume.
Develops and executes capital projects as assigned.
Supervises the day-to-day operations of a group of employees to assure a smooth workflow.
Assigns monitors and reviews the progress and accuracy of assigned work.
Ensures the consistent application of organization policies.
Monitors the effectiveness of systems, policies and procedures and makes appropriate recommendations to ensure daily operations are efficient; implements approved changes.
Estimates personnel needs and ensures adequate staffing in order to meet pre-established completion dates.
Ensures budgetary compliance.
Handles unusual or difficult inquiries/situations through direct personal action or refers to the appropriate individual.
Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports and promotes site safety programs.
Supports, promotes, and recommends enhancements to existing safety and health processes that will provide for a safe and healthful working environment.
Models safe working behavior for all employees.
Conducts safety inspections of work areas.
Participates in or leads functional safety committees such as Behavioral Safety, Ergonomic, Joint Safety Committee, Emergency Response, PSM or other safety teams.
Provides emergency first aid (CPR, first responder, etc.) if needed to another employee.
Trains employees on Safe Work Practices and also with proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Conducts or trains staff to conduct Safety Tailgate (Safety Net) meetings.
Enforces safe behavior by conducting corrective discipline for safety violations.
Conducts job and department specific safety training to new-hires and refresher training for existing employees.
Attends Essentials of Safety Leadership course conducted by Corporate Safety and Health Services.
Conducts individual Safety Observations as trained by Behavioral Safety Committee (through BST).
Conducts incident investigations for root cause factors and take appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff. Conducts performance evaluations; recommends salary adjustments; schedules and approves overtime; takes disciplinary actions, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED.
Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of maintenance experience to include 1 year of leadership or management experience in an operations or manufacturing environment OR 6 years of maintenance experience to include 2 years of leadership or management experience in an operations or manufacturing environment.
Required to work off-shifts (swing or graveyard).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 5 years of mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering experience to include 2 years of safety program management experience.
Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
Experience writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Experience presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Skilled in the use of MS Excel; basic MS Word and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
Skilled in applying advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.
Skilled in applying mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
Experience interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Experience carrying-out assignments that are broad and difficult in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in the area of specialization.
